Components of aluminum driveshaft for drag racing

The driveshaft is an integral part of vehicle operation. It can't function without the help of its supporting elements. It is essential to understand the workings of the drive shaft in order to appreciate the importance of each component.

Understanding the roles of components of the aluminum driveshaft for drag racing will help you to see their importance in your driveline. It will be a huge help to you if you need to stock replacement parts or upgrade your driveline performance.

DRIVESHAFT

This aluminum tube transfers torque from the transmission to the drive wheels at a constant speed. This allows the connection of components that are not possible otherwise.

U-JOINTS

The U-joint is responsible for connecting the differential to the drive shaft. It connects the driveshaft and differential in some cases. The bearings at each end of this cross-shaped piece allow the drive shaft's movement laterally or sideways without any breakage of driveline components.

SLIP YOKE

The slip yoke, which connects to the drive shaft, is typically an internal splined shaft. It transfers power from the driveshaft to the transfer case. To do this, it slides in and out of a transfer case. The slip yoke allows the power take-off (power transfer) to flex and the U-joints cannot rotate properly without it.

DRIVESHAFT SLIPPY YOKE FELT

This felt ring can be found in the slip yoke of the driveshaft. This prevents liquid and debris from entering the slip yoke. This increases the service life. When driving through rough terrains, it is important to not slip. This felt piece prevents mud, rocks, and water from damaging your vehicle’s drivetrain.
